Advanced Practice Registered Nurses
New catalog: On June 9th, our new library catalog went live. Visit it HERE, and update your shortcuts or bookmarks.
Advanced practice registered nurses include nurse practitioners, doctors of nursing practice, nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse midwives. Summa employs some of all of these APRNs! Their roles and scope vary by type, but may include diagnosis, treatment, prescribing medications, or patient care. Want to learn more about APRNs? Check out the American Nurses Association page for more information.
This page contains resources geared toward our various APRNs. In addition to the books, ebooks, and links on this page, you may find the resources on our Nursing Exam Prep and Professional Organization Titles useful.
Below are a selection of links from professional associations for the various types of APRNs.

Nursing is a high-stress, high-demand career. In fact, it's quite common to hear that feeling overwhelmed, being fearful of violence, and neglecting your own wellbeing are simply just part of the job. Or worse: what you signed up for. Here are some resources that may help you challenge that line of thinking and give you tools to protect your wellbeing (caregivers deserve care, too!).

Workplace violence and bullying, whether perpetrated by patients or colleagues, are NOT "just part of the job." In fact, according to the recently updated Akron city ordinance 135.06, menacing a healthcare worker is a misdemeanor punishable by jail time. Don't accept violence - check out the resources below for guidance on handling and preventing these situations.
