Health Equity Information Resources - a Summa Medical Library Guide

Guide on Health Equity / Disparities, Population Health, & Cultural Competence

Patient Resources

This page is dedicated to patient resources. Resources include sources of health information, support organizations, and more. Consider providing these resources to your patient as a part of patient education or as a means of helping them find support for their condition(s).

Note that patients may refer to their condition(s) using plain language, non-technical, or familiar/common terms. Throughout this page, conditions are referred to using their technical and common names.

General Information

The Information Age has brought limitless information to our fingertips. Unfortunately, this includes both reliable and unreliable information. The US faces low levels of general literacy in addition to low levels of technology and information literacies. The below resources can be used to help guide patients toward reliable health information online.
